Ⅲ. Analyzing the audience
A. Summary description of key audience characteristics
Most audience members are my classmates who are the juniors in Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics department of National Taipei University. And most of them are about twenty years old, which means that they may have a common generational view. There are more girls than boys, and they are from the different areas.
B. Subject-specific data
1. The audience will have some rough concept and knowledge about global warming, because this issue has been discussed a lot in the recent years. However, I think some people do not have a fully realization, like the causes and effects, about global warming.
2. Most of the audience will be willing to know about this subject or maybe they are interested in this topic, because global warming has a lot to do with our living environment and the ecosystem. It is even viewed as an environmental crisis. We should have an understanding of its causes and effects; also, everyone should know how to tackle with this serious problem.
3. The averaged audience member's attitude toward my subject is likely to be positive, because they can gain some information and knowledge about the topic easily on the web set, newspaper, magazine and so on. Additionally, this issue is strongly related to everybody.
4. My initial credibility with the audience is likely to be medium, because it is my first speech in the class and they do not know I have already searched the information from the web site, newspaper, books, etc.

B. Using the information you compiled in Activity 1B, the audience analysis, compare each topic to your audience profile. Eliminate topics that seem less appropriate.

C. Using the information you compiled in Activity 1C, your analysis of the setting for this speech, compare each of the remaining topics to your setting profile. Eliminate topics that seem less appropriate.
